Good Morning, Pond by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, is a picture book about the wildlife seen at a pond. Through prose, Good Morning, Pond lists the sights and sounds seen and heard at the pond. The book lists turtles, ducks, frogs, bugs, geese, birds, salamanders and other critters.
This book would be a good introduction for the topic of habitats. Habitats discuss a setting that animals live in, and the book is a great illustration of this. The illustrations are colorful and simple. They emphasize the descriptions in the text.
