PhantomoftheLibrary A lonely senior finds a stray "puppy" and brings it home. A delightful romp filled with humor, mistaken identify, and lots of animals.

Delightful pictures make this book fun to re-read. It's also (as mentioned by another reviewer) quite fun to shout "Chickens to the Rescue" at the appropriate time. This is a habit that may carry over into real world as people who have heard the story begin spontaneously helping one another.
From my blog, where it is considerably easier to post pictures:

How can you not be enchanted by these chickens?
The Greenstalks seem to be having a rash of trouble this week. First, a watch down the well
then a lack of dinner
followed by a missing book report,
Ernie the duck going joyriding,
Milky the cow stuck in the tree,
lost sheep,
and a spilled breakfast.
Thankfully, the chickens are there to save the day!
Minimal text, silly humor, clever illustrations reminiscent of Waldo and Steven Kellogg made this one a delight.
Plus, chickens!

It's all about the pictures - and they are indeed absurd. Chickens who are usually content in their feathers put on swimsuits to dive down the well. Chickens carry sheep out of the forest. Alrighty then.
A family favorite. The story is clever, but the detailed and hilarious illustrations hit this one out of the park.
A farmer accidentally drops his watch down his water well. What happens next? "Chickens to the Rescue"!
Throughout the pages of this wonderfully illustrated book, many loyal, helpful chickens repeatedly come to "the rescue" for the Greenstalks, a family of farmers, and the other animals on their farm. As other reviews have mentioned, it is a one-joke book where the joke just gets funnier as it unfolds.
The success of this book is largely due to the illustrations. With such a simple concept that children can latch onto and interact with, it's the images of the chickens and their antics providing wonderful asides and additional detail that keeps readers coming back. Not all rescue operations are on the same page - each chicken supports show more the story in its own way. Believability plays a strong part in this short picture book... at least the disregard for it.

This book was very good! I appreciated that there is another book by the same author called Pigs to the Rescue, and in that book the moral was a little confusing, but in this book I think the moral was very clear. Finding ways to help people will be rewarding not only to you but to the person who needs help as well.
in the book Chickens to the Rescue the writer focuses on days of the week. The chickens are trying to help people that are in trouble but in the process they end up making a mess. This book teaches that even when we do not understand or like when someone does something, they might have their best intentions at heart.
