This is the best overview of public transport scheduling in North America. It was published by the Transportation Research Board in 1980. This is not a step=by-step of the bus scheduling process, but rather gives more of an overview of the why and how of the process. But their are lots of details of how to do the scheduling. Issues taken up include spacing of routes, their frequency, issues of bus stops and running times, how to create workdays out of bus schedule, cost of schedule, express services, etc. An appendix features the process done by A C Transit (Oakland, CA), Toronto Transit Commission, and the MBTA (Boston).
