As an adult this was an enjoyable simple read. I liked the character of Poppy Fields and although the book is somewhat predictable I would imagine a younger reader might not predict the outcome.
This book is the first in a series and I can see them being quite popular in schools and libraries with a range of audiences. They are suitable for both boys and girls as although it is Poppy Fields who is the lead character there is enough to entertain both genders.
Poppy’s first adventure sees her on a remote Scottish island where the organisers in a trial week for a new outdoor adventure centre are dying one by one. I enjoyed reading it as an adult reader but it clearly isn’t a cross over book and would be suitable for top end show more primary/bottom end secondary school. show less
