Peter Brookesmith first sat on a horse when he was three, but he did not learn to ride until his late twenties. His real interest in horses was kindled when he found himself living on a Welsh farm, surrounded by them, and began to learn about their nature at first hand. Peter still lives in Wales, with his wife and step-daughter, a cat, and show more several horses. Peter has written an eclectic series of books on such subjects as art, UFOs, firearms and plagues, diseases and parasites, and has contributed to Mitchell Beazley's encyclopedic The Life of Horses. This is his first full-length book on equines. Technical contributor Lizzie Hopkinson trains dressage horses and has ridden for Great Britain as a member of the Young Riders' dressage team. She works in film production. show less
