This is a beautiful love story between two rabbits, Tino and Tina. They each leave loves letters in a hollow log for each other. But when it starts to rain, a family of mice rips their "warm words" up to build a nest. The next morning the mice realize their mistake when each bunny comes to the log, sad that there is no letter. The mice help make one giant heart letter and they all live happily ever after.

I love this story! It's like Chicken Soup for the Soul, rabbit style. I think this is a great Valentine's Day book to read. It's a fairytale, but it sure is sweet. I think of all of those Valentine's we exchanged when I was in elementary school and how exciting that was. Love is clearly the theme in this story, along with compassion and show more teamwork.

There are some great extensions possible for Valentine's Day. We could write Valentine's to each other. We could also write poems and then get into groups. Each group would rip up their words and piece them together to form new poems or stories using every word.
