Holy Jesus, if I could give this six stars I would. I've never read/watched anything by Joss Whedon before but now I'm worried that I might start watching Buffy and give into that crush on Sarah Michelle-Gellar that I've done so well denying. Whedon takes all the best parts of the X-Men--Scott Summers' lack of self confidence, Kitty Pryde's angst-ridden teenage mindset, Logan's badass-ness--and makes not just the best X-Men comic, but the best comic hands-down.
I picked this up, and I was not able to put it down. I enjoyed this on a nice Saturday. I had read parts of it before, but until now, had not read the full run of Whedon's work on X-Men. It is a new and interesting take on characters that have been done many times before. The art is also pretty good. Overall, I will say that if you like this series, and you have some money to spare, this omnibus edition would be a good addition to your collection. Public libraries and others that collect graphic novels may want to add this volume to their collections. I don't think you have to be an X-Men fan or a Buffy fan (that is Whedon's big work he is known for. Personally, I do not like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but that does not take away from show more Whedon as a writer overall) to like this. show less
Astonishingly good. If you're not a geek, then just call it 2 stars and move on. But if you are, even a little, then you'll find this to be good fun. Good plot, lots of nice humor, and worth an afternoon or two of your time.
Art was good. Felt meh about the story. Had high expectations since this very highly rated by reader on amazon.
