Description

The Research Center for Musical Iconography (RCMI/RIdIM) through the efforts of numerous musicologists has begun the worldwide task of cataloguing art objects which portray or illustrate musical instruments and performance. The present book contains selected prints most representative of the trumpet and trombone. A broad look at a narrow field has been attempted. Graphic art (i.e., woodcuts, etchings, engravings, and drawings) which contain illustrations of trumpets and trombones have been show more used and a certain freedom of selection as to whether instruments are horns or trumpets is evident. Paintings, sculpture, and media other than graphic art are not included in this volume. - Introduction. show less
