Elmer's Special Day

The other elephants are busy getting ready for their annual Elmer's Special Day, so Elmer the patchwork elephant goes for walks in the jungle to get out of the way; but he finds that the other animals are being disturbed by the noise of all the preparations. Elmer finds a novel way to keep everyone happy without spoiling the elephants' celebration.

I'll be honest; I bought quite a few books in the Elmer series when my older son was growing up. I read this to my younger son as a bedtime story, by special request following on from reading Elmer a couple of nights before. I love Elmer's sense of fun and his empathic solutions.

This book is about a colorful elephant parade that takes place every year but this year is special because ALL animals are invited to be in the parade. This is a fun book about sharing and getting along and would be great in the classroom. It would be suitable for grades 1-2.
