Description

In 1991, The Commission of the European Community launched the Technology Initiative for Disabled and Elderly People (TIDE) pilot action, with the aim of stimulating the creation of a single market in rehabilitation technology (RT), i.e., all the technologies provided directly to elderly and/or disabled people to enable them to live more independent lives. The pilot was successful, and led to a number of research projects under the TIDE umbrella. This book presents the proceedings of the show more first TIDE Congress on Rehabilitation Technology Strategies for the European Union, held at the Palais des Congres in Brussels, Belgium, in April 1993. Comprising three parallel sessions and an exhibition, the congress brought together people from inside and outside Europe to share the results of TIDE projects and to discuss the future of RT.The book is divided into three main sections: Session 1, Results from R&D Programmes; Session 2, Market and Service Delivery; and Session 3, Methodology of R&D Programmes. The book will be of interest to all those with an interest in the development of assistive technology in a European context. show less
