Says that we need to develop a modern, globally pervasive sense of community to supplant traditional notions of tolerance among differences. But I recall being confronted with Sartre and Camus as different scenarios on the limitations of human community: CAN it become truly global, or are there inherent limitations in the extent to which we homo sapiens can find common cause with one another? Does stretching ourselves TO those limits really help our common situation or needlessly stress and bewilder and degrade it?
