I thought I was reading a good, well-written contemporary romance - small town girl meets and falls in love with city rich guy - when boom! I was in the midst of a murder mystery - with dark currents of dysfunctional mothers. It worked though...and made this more than the run-of-the-mill romance.
This is a story told twice--once by Nora and once by Timothy. It is a love story. It is a murder mystery. It keeps you guessing to the very end because it is extremely cleverly written. The character development is deft, and the story moves along quickly with no small touch of humor running throughout. I had TREMENDOUS difficulty putting this book down. Trust me--you want to read this book.
My final ARC read of the year… and this one left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I plowed through the book in one sitting. On the other hand, the story left me with unresolved feelings, and it became somewhat predictable near the end.

A woman and a man meet, and fall in love. It’s an unlikely pairing, and being together is difficult, but they do what they can to beat the odds… until the romance ends in murder. Love, fidelity, and fate are themes within the novel, with both main characters taking turns telling their sides of the story.

Admittedly, the writing is excellent. I’d cautiously recommend it, simply because it held my attention for the entire book, and suggest that perhaps you check Amazon.com for further plot show more notes, or read it if you’re already familiar with the author’s work. show less
very, very good. I was afraid it was going to be another "Gone Girl" (which I hated), but this was soooo much better.
