Description

The decline and fall of the Funj kingdom of Sinnar, the last in a long sequence of ancient, medieval and early modern kingdoms centred in the Nile Valley, Sudan. Over the course of the century from 1750 to 1850 the old social order disintegrated and the new partisans who came to dominate affairs could neither restore peace nor prevent the annexation of the kingdom to Egypt in 1821
