Description

Set on Martha's Vineyard. Charlie Dollarhide is half Mohawk and lives with his family among the Wampanoags in Aquinnah. At 14 he still has not grown, but he can run like the wind and the coach has recruited him for the track team. And then his next door neighbor, an elder in the tribe, is murdered and the police accuse Charlie's father. And while the judge does not put his father in jail, Charlie wants to know who killed is neighbor, so there is no question about his father's innocence. And show more whoever the murdere is it's clear that he did not get what he wanted because he returns to search the house. What's missing are the tribal geneological records, proving who is and who is not a member. And because that list will decided who gets to vote when and if the tribe decideds to borrow money to open a casino, those records are critical and Charlie knows they have to be found.
