the overall story was good, keep on the interest level till the end. and uncommonly ends with negative way. that makes us to think, that what will happen if such thing occur in our life. and i think subconsiously it gives message to us to keep control on your emotion and angerness which may hault you in future.....
The Theif was one of the Quick Reads published for World Book Day 2006.
This is the 2nd Rendell book I've read this year (or ever). I found The Thief to be a quick, easy to read story although it probably wasn't quite what I was expecting but I will probably read more from Rendell in the future.

After a problem in her childhood Polly began to exact revenge on anyone who upset her. She gradually found happiness and stability, until something happens and her world begins to crumble. I could identify with her anger and shared her fear and despair when events started to spiral out of control. The ending left me feeling a little unsatisfied but it was still an enjoyable read.

A good short read. Karma comes back around, and Polly experiences this the hard way. As revenge for making Polly feel bad, Polly steals. It originates when she was a child and she didn't like being told off, so she stole. As an adult, the consequences are a lot dire and truths are finally revealed.

A morality tale about a woman who doesn't think through the consequences of her actions and what happens when her chickens come home to roost.

I expected a lot from Ruth Rendell, but this was probably not the best book to start with.

Pocketeditie, kleine druk. - Redactie show less
