Description

What to do when Grandpa and Grandma are too busy to play? Ask the elephant, of course! He's loads of fun, even if he squashes the flower bed and breaks a few things around the house. Grandpa and Grandma will understand-- really. In an intergenerational story that is both funny and sweet, Petr Horáček illuminates the power of one boy's boundless imagination -- and how truly infectious it can be!

I love the imaginary elephant friend who is somehow to blame for all of the messes. It appears as though the elephant is colored in with crayon by a child. This adds charm to the imaginary friend. The fact that there are no parents, only grandparents, leaves one wondering about what happens to those parents and what it would be like to live with your grandparents as a young child.
This was sweet and efficiently executed, and managed to make those two qualities complement and not clash with each other.

I love Horáček's illustrations, and this is a cute story.
My elephant was about a little boy who asked his grandpa to play with him but he was busy. He then asked his grandma to play with him and she was busy. He began to play with his big giant elephant . His grandma and grandpa both saw messes and asked the little boy what happened. He told them that it was his elephant that made the messes. His grandparents didn't believe him so the boy was sad. His elephant came to cheer him up. He goes on adventures with the elephant, to the jungle and fishing. He ends up in his bed and asks his grandpa how he got to his bed and he says "you were tired so your elephant put you to bed"
