Description

To recover a priceless artifact with a history that changes at every telling, Conan fares to Sicas, in Aquilonia, a city where anything can be had for a price or a bribe, from the King's Reeve to a murder. Yet others would seize the object if they could, paying gold -- or a knife in the back. In Sicas, a man alone is marked as prey, and sorcery stalks the night, but the hunters do not know that they hunt the most dangerous quarry of all ... Conan the Rogue.

I'm gradually reading through every Conan novel not written by Robert E. Howard that is out there. There are 100+ of them.

John Maddox Roberts wrote a number of Conan pastiches for TOR books. The several that I've read have been of a very high quality.

This is certainly the best of those pastiches so far. I will pay it the biggest compliment that I can, which is to say the voice is right. It feels like Conan should feel.

Great.
