Jenny the dog helps Farmer Bob on the farm. One day all of the animals decide to make new sounds and the farm was a mess. As hard as she tried Jenny was unable to get the animals to make their own sounds. Farmer Bob was able to explain how important it is for the animals to do their job, reminding them they are special in their own way.

I think this book reminds us that everyone gets bored or feels unimportant at times. We all need to be reminded that what we do is important. I think this book would be good for students who feel like they are too small to do things older kids do.

Students could make a collage of things they look forward to doing when they get older.(ex. driving, cooking, wearing make-up,etc.)

As a class we could discuss show more the problems that might arise if workers quit doing their jobs. (ex. trash-man, fireman, cooks, policemen, teachers, etc.) show less
