This book was a delight to read -- any word lover would agree, I'm sure. Robert Beard presents the most beautiful words in the English language, based largely on how they sound and to some extent, what associations they evoke. He admits his choices are subjective, and he couldn't whittle the list all the way down to 100! There are 121 short essays, each on a beautiful word, with definitions and the word's origins included. In describing the words, Mr. Beard provides examples of their usage; these are sometimes humorous, somethings evocative of pleasures or feelings. Fun to read! ( )
