This is a beautiful story of a little girl who would love to own her very own pony. Her parents always tell her she is too young, or there isn't enough money, or there isn't anywhere to keep a pony. Knowing she cannot have a pony of her own now, she allows her imagination to run free, including the ability to create a beautiful pony whose name is Silver.

Silver is beautiful white and shiny like the sun shinning on her skin. She is dappled with white circles and has a bright white mane and a long, sweeping tail that is silvery white. As she draws a pony, she creates a beautiful imaginative pony that can fly into the night

Silver comes alive when the little girl is drawing her. And, she believes the horse can fly out of the bedroom window show more into the night sky.

In the day, she and Silver travel throughout the woods where they smell the pine and stop to see the beautiful clear water. In addition to Silver, other horses join them and now, the girl is surrounded by many who make soft sounds and allow her to pet the beautiful multicolored brown, tan, multicolored, gray, chestnut and roan ponies.

Silver remains by her side, always, even as they gallop through the mountains and across the sky. And even though she knows Silver is a figment of her imagination, still she watches as Silver waits for her outside her window.

Susan Jeffers is an incredible artist. I was once told that drawing horses is one of the most difficult things to make happen on paper. Yet, Susan Jeffers can portray an incredible group of ponies as together they roam by the stream, or soar in the sky, and stay together in a field as magic occurs.

This is a lovely, beautiful book, both in thought and reality.

My Pony is about a llittle girl who wants a pony, but her parents tell her it is too expensive and they have no place to keep one. She wants one so very badly that she daydreams about it and begins to draw a picture of what her dream pony might look like. In her drawing the horse comes to life, she even gives it the name Silver. They ride off through the woods and through a cold mountain stream. She wakes up from her dream when she is finished with the pictures, and kisses her parents goodnight.

I like this book because I grew up around horses and I love them. I also like the way the author describes every detail of the girls expierence. It is almost as if you are in the story and are riding with her. The authorand the illustrator do a show more great job of bringing the story to life.

In the classroom I might use this book as part of an art lesson, encouraging the class to feel what they are drawing. I may also use this book to teach military children, whose parents are deployed, that when you want something that you know you can't have, sometimes dreaming or drawing it can help fill that void.

A beautifully illustrated story about a girl's need for a pony. To fill that desire, she invents a magnificent pony of her own and gives him a name as beautiful as he is. A must read for that little girl (or that little girl inside) that wants a pony or a horse of her own. The passion and longing ring true for every child who wanted that special friend of their own. (It did for me!)
My pony is a story about a little girl who has always dreamed of having a pony of her own but her parents always say no because it is too expensive and they have no pasture to keep it in. She wishes so often and so strongly that she begins to dream and draw pictures about what she wants her pony to look and act like. Her drawings begin to come to life and she names her dream pony Silver. She continues to draw and they eventually ride off into the mountains and have a full day of adventure. Once she is finished drawing her pictures, she wakes up from her dream, kisses her parents goodnight, and goes to bed.

This book hits very close to home for me because both of my parents grew up around horses and cattle, therefore this was always show more something i wanted to experience. I was in a similar situation as her as my father was in the military and we were never in the same place for long. This being the case, we usually lives on post or rented homes where having large animals was not possible.

I personally believe that this book would be a good book to read to a class here in Oklahoma because many students could probably understand it well. There are many activities that could go along with this book such as coloring activities or word searches. Catching childrens attention and keeping it is a very important element of teaching and I believe i could use this book to do so in the classroom.

This is absolutely one of my favorite books from when I was younger. I have always loved animals, especially ponies. We always had horses and a pony when I was younger and still do. This book is about one girls love for a pony that she asks for everyday. Since her parents tell her no she decides to use her imitation to draw her dream pony silver to life. Once silver comes to life they go on a ride through the clouds and threw pretty trees where they see other ponies. When they return back home it is time for bed and she asks one last time for a pony and they say no, but silver is still waiting at the window for their next ride.
One of my absolute favorite books as a young child, my pony makes me love horses even more each and every time I read it. I will never outgrow asking for a pony every year for Christmas.
