Why so underrated? Because it doesn't meet the expectations of fans of Peter's neighborhood? Yes, this is Keats too... give it a chance. Such a funny and heartwarming exploration of the idea of imaginative play. And look at the details: the mouse, the walking on the chair backs, the kittens consoling the puppy when it gets hurt.

So much for you and your child to talk about. For example, would you like to be a kitten? What would be easy for you to do? Would you like to be a puppy? What would be difficult for you to do? Do you think your cousin would be a good kitten, or a naughty puppy, or something else? Can people who are different play together, like kittens and puppies can?

I'm just a sucker for baby animals, but I thought this book was so cute. It is primarily told with pictures, though it has a few words (mostly onomatopoeia and the like). A VERY quick read, but very sweet too.

Kitten for a Day describes the adventures of a dog who joins a group of kittens in their daily activites. Rich illustrations bring the story to life, as the dog attempts to acquire the habits of the kittens. This book is charming, and with its simple text and life like illustrations, a great starter book for young children.
This is a book about a dog who plays with all the kittens for the day. He tries to meoww like a kitten, play like them, chase mice with them and then his mom comes to get him. he says that tomorrow they should all play like they are puppies. it is a cute story with minimal words and full page pictures.
A puppy pretends to be a kitten for a whole day. He plays whatever the kittens usually play. When the day is finished and his mother comes to get him, he ask the kitten to pretend to be puppies next time.
This is a level one book. It is an easy read for beginners and tells how friends play together. The illustrations are wonderfully used to help tell the story.
One day a puppy plays with four kittens and they do a lot of kitten things. They drink milk, chase a mouse, and jump on furniture. Eventually the puppy's mother tells him that he needs to come home and they all decide they are going to all be puppies the next time they play.
A little puppy goes to play with a few kittens and learns what it is like to be a kitten for a day. In the end he realizes that being a kitten is an exhausting job.
