An amusing chapter book with lovely illustrations that jump off the page as Mr. Putter tries to figure out how to bake a cake for his neighbor. The style of the writing is almost poetry which will allow for enjoyable reading aloud, but then as a child grows older they can read it on their own. One of the best parts of this story is how Mr. Putter learns and makes mistakes with his cake but finally figures it out and is able to gift his friend. A child in the first grade would enjoy this, because it has chapters but also wonderful illustrations that seem to come to life and invite you into the story.
How sweet that Mr. Putter spends from July to Christmas trying to think of just the right gift for his friend. I love that his memories make him enjoy winter, too. That Mary Sue, though, I don't know about her...
Okay, okay....another EB, and a series yet! Ayup, sure, why not? I have a cat that looks just like Tabby, although not quite as friendly...
These are fun stories to read to children.

Mr. Putter and his fine cat, Tabby, decide to bake a fine, airy Christmas cake for their neighbors. It will be a cinch. Or will it?
Wonderful easy reader series. Great for children who are ready for something a little more challenging than a picture book, but aren't quite ready to tackle a novel without picture support.
Mr. Putter and Tabby decide to make their neighbor, Mrs. Teaberry, a light and airy cake for Christmas. However, since they have no pans, cookbooks, ingredients, or knowledge of baking the task proves to be difficult. Yet in the end, they end up accomplishing their goal and receiving a strange gift in return.
It's a realistic chapter book because of all of thing in the story can exist in our life.
