Nemeth, a philosopher and reformer often characterized as brooding, has written many books on the situation of Hungary in Europe as well as critical works, journalism, and a number of novels. Revulsion (1947) is an example of the latter. The sensitive story of a young farm girl, set in the Hungary of the late 1930s, it gives a vivid picture of show more village and rural life. A novel with an earlier, post-World War I setting, Guilt, is sharply critical of the upper classes for tolerating, and even causing, class inequities. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
