John Buchan is known primarily for his work as a novelist, his most famous book being The Thirty-Nine Steps. However, he also wrote a large amount of poetry. His first published verse was a hymn, written when he was 11 years old. This book provides a collection of Buchan's poetical works. It contains over 20 pages of previously unpublished verse, authenticated by Reverend C.H. Dick, that was discovered by Milne in the Buchan archives at Queen's University in Canada. Lines and fragments of verse which feature in his other literary work are also included. Written in both English and Scots, whilst living in several countries, the poems cover a variety of themes: religious, secular, military, political and personal. No library descriptions found. |
