This is a charming and likeable volume. Donald Hall certainly wants to come off as reasonable and friendly, but the tone here is almost chatty in a way associated with people much older than he was. If you have read other volumes of his you will find little that is new here, Some of the pieces are fugitive indeed. the largest amount of space is taken up by interviews in which Hall covers territory mostly covered elsewhere before. there are nice, if not ground-breaking pieces on Gunn, Berryman, Roethke, Snodgrass, and Bly.
