This book deals with the story of two dysfunctional people. Maddie is flat broke and a radio DJ. She can't hold down a steady job because she seems to purposely self-destruct. Eddie was a former manager of a rock star that was killed by a crazed fan and he can't get over it. He is agoraphobic and has panic attacks. He lives in a run down shack of a house with a yard overgrown with weeds in a backwater small town in Nebraska. Eddie is a recluse, a drunk, and the only people he has contact with are a brain-damaged young man and prostitutes. When Maddie meets Eddie, she pretends she's a prostitute and surrenders her virginity to him. Wow, how do you make a h/h and HEA out of this mess? Obviously, this is not your typical romance but it is show more a testament to Weir's writing skill that she can make this work so well. And it's very short, only about 250 pages. This was a moving book with very well drawn, complex characters and I loved it. (Grade: A-) show less

Free from Kindle. Spoilers. This is a sweet book, the main character is a speak-your-mind rebellious dj who is also a staunchly moral & ethic person with God and virginity on her side. She gets involved with a singer/songwriter who has fears and phobias; there is lots of miscommunication but everything turns out OK in the end.
Maddie Smith tries to find her missing sister and ends up being mistaken for a hooker. I loved the tension between Maddie and Eddie, who may or may not be, her sister's killer. funny
To say I loved this book would be a huge understatement! This is my newest all-time favorite read ever. Full review to come.
