One of my very favorite BSC books. This is a very sad book, Mary Anne's friend dies in a car crash and Mary Anne wants to do something special to remember her. I remember, after reading this book for the first time, being so upset about Amelia's death that I was actually scared to get in a car. That's how much this story affected me.
One of the very popular Baby-Sitters' Club series, this book was written in response to the letters the author had received requesting a story dealing with the death of a classmate, and also drunk driving. This story shows the grief, and the different ways of expressing it, present in a school community following the death of a student. Mary Anne searches for a way to acknowledge and remember her friend Amelia. The story includes Mary Anne's visit to a therapist.
A sensitive enough handling of a hard subject, in true BSC style.
Drunk driving is bad. It takes innocent lives. So don't drink and drive, mmkay. Mary Anne agrees with that message 100 percent because one of her friends was killed by a drunk driver, mmkay.
