Hatter Madigan continues his quest for the light that may lead him to finding Princess Alyss Heart of Wonderland.
As with part 2, this volume is mostly set against the backdrop of the American civil war and it is a setting that has already outlived its welcome. The beauty of Madigan's journeys is that he moves to different locations and meets new people; having him stay so long in one historical situation simply doesn't make for interesting reading.
However, 2/3 through the book and Hatter M finally encounters some new adventures, leading him to a native Indian tribe and then to a ghost town in the deepest west where he discovers a small piece of Wonderland in this new world. Finally the books seem on track again and I look forward to the show more next installment eagerly. show less
