Binge tells the story of Weldon Yeager, a high school student who has become an alcoholic, and the horrible effects drinking and driving can have.
The story is told from Weldon's point of view, as he lies in the hospital not exactly sure what has happened. The book in many ways is suspenseful as readers learn details of the accident along with Weldon. The author, Charles Ferry, had struggled with alcoholism and sought to write a book to warn teeanagers of the dangers of alcohol. The book is extremely effective, though certainly needs to only be read by fairly mature teenagers, especially those who may consider or have already begun drinking.
