A charming book that provide the reader with a sense of hope for the beaver. In the story, the beaver hitches a ride on a log flowing down a river. He then gets separated from his family. You can only imagine the terror the beaver succumbs to after arriving in an unknown location in which no one could help him get home. I loved how the illustrator shows the city as an expansive wilderness that is filled with endless buildings. Once the beaver arrives in the city, he is chased by a dog which leads him to the zoo. Then he finds other beavers, but he can't reach them because there is a glass barrier in their enclosure. He follows a sewer which leads him into a heavy populated area of civilians. Once he reaches a bridge, he decides to show more venture in the water. This river then leads him back to his family. Although, the author uses very few words, the illustrator does a fantastic job on using space and perspective to convey a sense of lost that the beaver feels while being separated from his family and home. Great story!! show less
Summary: This is about a beaver that doesn't know where he is and tries to find his way back home and ends up going through the city. He encounters other animals that help him along the way and sees beavers in zoos and gets confused sometimes.
Review: I loved the illiustrations of this book, the watercolors were really colorful and the pictures were detailed. I think the theme or concept of the book was that everyone can feel a little lost at times, but going back home to a loving and welcoming family is what fixes everything. I think it also showed that new places can be scary, but you will always have home. This could be used to write a story in the classroom about a time when someone has felt lost or went to a new place for the first show more time. show less

I really liked this book. I think it was great to see a story of a beaver seeing a world he hadn't seen before, even seeing beavers in the zoo. The beaver knew that wasn't home then and was trying to find his way. I think the illustrations were really nice because you could tell what was going on, like when the mouse was helping him, even though he was tiny.
Coopers art shines in the urban cityscapes where his use of line and simple color create a vivacious, popping display. In the country scenes his drawings fall a bit flat, and seem cartoonish and idealistic.
Summary: Beaver gets lost and winds up in the city where things are much scarier than at home. The story follows Beaver as he makes his way back home.
Genre: Wordless Book
Personal Reflection: I really liked how the illustrations complemented the storyline, of course, especially because this story relies solely on the pictures. I think it' a cute concept, which can also teach about how animals homes are being encroached upon by humans.
Concept: I like the comic book styling of some of the pages and how it shows you all of the things that Beaver does in the city. I like how this teaches young readers that it can be fun to explore but coming home is always the best feeling.

Beaver is lost is a lovely picture book. The pictures show a story of a lost beaver making his way through a busy city. He eventually finds his way home. I like that the art tells the story. I don't see many books like this anymore.
This was a great wordless book. As I am reading more wordless picture books, I am loving them more and more! I liked how this one was set up into little boxes, almost like a comic book, so you could see everything Beaver did in the city.
