This volume traces the origin of federal thought. Moreover, the authors discuss the influence of Federalism on the development of theology and politics in the Western world. Finally, the volume includes an important English translation of Heinrich Bullinger's treatise "De testamento seu foedere Dei unico et aeterno" (1534), one of the earliest ( if not the earliest treatises that alienates Covenantalism).
