Mem Fox delivers, every time. Lovely bright illustrations (by Jan Thomas - so perfect for this type of book), bouncy rhyme, just perfect for reading aloud. And it lends itself so well to inviting children to examine the pictures further: "Here we see an airport goat looking for her cases. But can we count the pilot goats with goggles on their faces?" Kids will love this, bound to be a sure fire winner at Storytimes sessions.

Interesting mixed reviews. The book *is* funny, and does reinforce counting skills, and has enriching vocabulary. It may not be for some readers, and in fact doesn't make me go 'omg,' but it's a hoot a bit like [b:Go, Dog. Go!|460548|Go, Dog. Go!|P.D. Eastman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1333578440s/460548.jpg|887311] which is an acknowledged classic. And check out the additional details in the pix... for example, figure out what probably started the fire...

Thank you West Duluth Branch Library.
Similar to Where Is The Green Sheep? but with counting. If you pause to count, though, it interrupts the rhyming flow of the text, especially at the end ("Can you count their pricked-up ears? You can? I'm not surprised!")

Simple illustrations in bright colors on bright backgrounds with bold black outlines.

The illustrations are very Jan Thomas like which makes sense since she is the author. Great rhyme that seamlessly goes from suggesting to counting how many goats in different scenes. Great for storytime!
This book is a great way to engage and introduce children into the world of math utilizing goats, outlandish imagery, animals and humor to entice children to count. The book moves from 1 - 10 along the way asking children to identify aspects of the images to count.
This is an excellent book for younger children. It allows for rhyming and for counting which are two big concepts when children are first starting their learning process. I think that the illustrations add a lot to the story along with the bold words and colors. Overall this is an excellent book and I would recommend having it in classrooms and homes.
"Here we see an over goat. And this one's going under. But can we count the crossing goats, terrified of thunder?"

Mem Fox, Jan Thomas, silly goats, what's not to like? Great counting book for little ones.
