Short biography
Hallee Bridgeman is a best-selling Christian author who writes action-packed romantic suspense focusing on realistic characters who face real world problems. Her work has been described as everything from refreshing to heart-stopping exciting and edgy.

An Army brat turned Floridian, Hallee finally settled in central Kentucky with her family so that she could enjoy the beautiful changing of the seasons. She enjoys the roller-coaster ride thrills that life with a National Guard husband, a teenaged daughter, and two elementary aged sons delivers.

A prolific writer, when she’s not penning novels, you will find her in the kitchen, which she considers the ‘heart of the home’. Her passion for cooking spurred her to launch a whole food, real food “Parody” cookbook series. In addition to nutritious, Biblically grounded recipes, readers will find that each cookbook also confronts some controversial aspect of secular pop culture.

Hallee is a member of the Published Author Network (PAN) of the Romance Writers of America (RWA) where she serves as a long time board member in the Faith, Hope, & Love chapter. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and the American Christian Writers (ACW) as well as being a member of Novelists, Inc. (NINC).

Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide her. She prays her work here on earth is a blessing to you and would love to hear from you. You can reach Hallee at hallee@bridgemanfamily.com

I liked most of the things in this book, but unfortunately, this book had some things in it that caused the rating to have to go down.

Negative Content.

A mention of someone considering Fort Bragg to be a cuss word.

A mention of a eight year old having had screamed profanities at his grandmothor because he and his brother was being dragged away from her home by social works because she could not afford to take care of them.

The main male character dates the main female character while he was still married, and when she finds out after his wife died, she wonders if their team mates had been laughing behind their hands at her while she let a married man have a deployment fling with her.

The man remembers how he had married his late wife, how it had been a marriage of convenience, that they had gone home to their own homes, and that they didn't even wear rings. That he didn't feel married, nor did he think of himself as a married man, except on paper.
In fact, he'd never thought of being married again. Not until the main female character had suggested they should start seeing each other romantically. Suddenly, his situation with his wife loomed in the forefront of his mind. He should have told her (FMC) at that exact moment, then explained who his wife was and what being married to her meant. It was too late now.

He thinks that his late wife's body had arrived that morning and would have been cremated by now, and that she wanted her ashes buried between her parents.(the Bible does not agree with burning the dead instead of burying them).

A mention of a woman feeling embarrassment fill her heart as she thought about the many women she had watched fall into deployment affairs with married men over the years. She'd never understood why someone would do something like that. And here she was, a veteran of one of the things she abhorred most of all.
Did she own any accountability for that? She thought. She distinctly remembered asking him if he loved anyone back home and he said no. She'd fulfilled her end of the requirements.
The worst part of it, she thinks, is that everyone knew. It was too small of a community to get away with having a secret love affair.(there is a similar mention of this later on).

A mention of a intrusive search done to a woman by a bad guy.

A bad guy threatens to sell a woman to a Greek man he knows who likes women from Türkiye.

This book was really exciting and action packed, but due to the main male character having been married when he was first starting to date the main female character. I would probably recommend the other books in this series over this one to be honest. I was not required to write a review and the thoughts above are my own.

Okay, okay, I was going to lose it with this book... I liked it well enough in the beginning, I suppose. But!!! A pet peeve of mine?! Is when the heroine scoffs at the mindset of a military man and has a disdain for the very things that make him a good soldier, the fact that he would use a gun to protect the innocent. I highly dislike when a woman is so... Stupid, I suppose is a word to use when she thinks all military men are killers and bring violence. It's just sheesh stupidity to think that especially when faced with warlords and such overseas. So, yeah... I did not like the start of the book and that took a good bit off of the rating.

Updating on what I've already written... I did not finish. I can't I'm not sorry (sorry. ;)) and I do not understand the hype around this book.

I regret requesting to review the second one and I am not sure how my review of it is going but after about 25% of this book and my attention not staying on what I'm reading, content that is seriously annoying the heck out of me, and the just.... UGH, wrong mindset from the heroine, whose-name-i-don't-remember, I just couldn't do it, so I checked other reviews and none of them encouraged me personally to finish reading this one.

I honestly, and I am sorry here, don't understand how it was published from Revell with the slow pace, repetitive thoughts, and the lack of spark between the lead characters in what is supposed to be a romance, I also found the lack of faith and just prayers thrown with great whining to be quite enough that I wouldn't read Mrs. Bridgeman's books again if I didn't have the second book to review.

This was quite a disappointing read, sadly.

I must admit. The Christian thread of this book influenced the rating I gave. But if I did not enjoy the book so much and/or did not learn a lot from it, then it would not have received the stars. I do not usually read books about our military, but the high ratings it garnered made me give it a try. I am glad I did. The story seemed realistic. The mission, motives, and mindset of all the characters set the tone for all the action and banter amongst the characters. The thinking processes of the hero and heroine made for good explanations of all the plots. I will read a story by this author again.… (more)
