This is a delightful presentation of Canton's recounting of some of the stories of folk who are generally accepted as Christian saints. He has included: "The Song of the Minster" presenting John of Fulda; "The Ancient Gods Pursuing" presenting Hilary; The Hermit of the Pillar" presenting Basil; "Kenach's Little Woman" presenting Kenach; "The Sin of the Prince Bishop" presenting Evrard; "The Story of the Lost Brother" presenting Oswald; and "The Countess Itha" presenting Itha. In the back of the book are "Thoughts and Questions" for the reader to ponder at his or her leisure but after 4 or 5 readings as recommended by Sir Arthur Quiller Couch. Maybe I'll do that.… (more)
