I think I appreciate this book because of having lived in Mexico myself. Many of the places and themes were familiar to me. Each author's accounts were unique so it's hard to tie them together but most of them resonated with me. Great collection!

Chic lit lite meets Italian travel writing. A collection of mercifully short frothy essays on Italy, that add nothing to your knowledge of local culture. Even Barbara Harrison's contribution seems somehow diminished by its lackluster companions. Intelligent women have written knowingly and passionately about Italy. Unfortunately they have not made it into this book.

I read this while in Greece; otherwise it's not the sort of book I would normally read as I don't like short stories or pieces. Some of the writing was quite good, but much of it was pedestrian at best. It's fun to have something like that to broaden one's experience in a place, however.
