A fantastic book that sets out not just a set of activities to guide children into reading and writing, but a good explanation of Montessori philosophies and theories about how children learn to read, write and construct meaning.

The activities in this book are clear, understandbale and fun. They are sequenced so you should have a good idea of when children are ready to move onto new activities. There is plenty of explanation of why you should do certain things, how this helps the child, and how this builds into a future of reading and writing.

I would recommend this book to all parents who are interested in helping their child learn to read and write, whether they know about Montessori or not. This book would be a definate bonus to parents considering homeschooling young children.
