This is an adequate thriller. On the plus side - I got really caught up in the plot. On the minus side - loose ends, a stupid female prosecutor, and an unnecessary love interest.

This is a fast-paced novel that will keep the reader guessing. Martinez expertly draws the reader in and keeps them frantically turning the pages until the end with a tightly plotted suspense storyline.

I haven't read the other books in the series, so that may have affected my thoughts on this book, but personally I didn't think it was great. The biggest flaw was that nothing actually happened - SPOILER - the whole time they're gearing up for a big showdown in court or a great coup by getting the murder to flip on a terrorist, but nothing happens. Everybody just gets killed, so the main character doesn't actually DO anything. Very anti-climatic. I was looking forward to a good legal battle, and it just never happened.

2nd flaw was the new lawyer - her character was the key to certain events happening or not happening, but she was very unbelievable. I found her behavior disgusting and childish, and certainly not the behavior of a smart lawyer.

The main character seemed interesting and likeable enough, but the other stuff ruined the book for me.

I enjoyed the first three books in this series, but was really disappointed in this one and had a hard time finishing it. The premise of the story was good, but the dialogue and actions of supposedly intelligent people was, at times, immature and childish. I don't care for the direction in which she has taken the two main characters. Pretty much, I'm sorry to say, I just didn't even care to finish the book. Still, I'll probably read her next book and hope it will be as good as the first three books in the series.… (more)
