David Pearce's chapter is perhaps the best one on the side of those saying that a superAI/transhumanist singularity should be expected and hoped for. Theodore Modis's says no, arguing that what look like exponential growth curves are always the beginnings of sigmoid curves that eventually level off. Two late chapters unacceptably insult singularity theorists by calling their ideas religion-like ("techno-supernaturalistic", "fideistic"). One of these, by Diane Proudfoot, does include a good analysis of why copying, as opposed to transformation, would be an unsatisfactory approach to mind uploading. Luciano Floridi's essay "What is the philosophy of information" in this book is very bad writing. The essay on The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy I found well worth reading. It deals with the practical details and problems of maintaining a "dynamic reference work" as they call it and designing the management system for it.
