Unfortunately, I thought storyline choppy in someplace and the artwork shoddy. Artwork seemed almost blurred in some places, incomplete in others, and too dark, and in some places the artwork in different boxes without much explanation seemed to confuse me on what was going on.

The storyline, perhaps, unfortunately true, I do not think would be conducive to influence anyone to become a Christian; rather it may give them more reason not to be a Christian seeing that Christians are hypocrites with it's portrayals, although true it seems, of Luther's attitude towards poor and oppressed, and Jews.

I am against hiding the reality of what has truly occurred in Church history in order to deceive and make Christianity more palatable, but I am not sure this emphasis on Luther's life rather than on the Word of God he sought to bring to others, would encourage not only sympathy for Luther but the desire to become a believer in Christ. Church history needs to be brought out in a perspective, notwithstanding the realities of the cruelties great personages like Martin Luther may have committed, that offers genuine, positive changes to move men to genuinely love one another and sacrifice their lives for others.

Admittedly, I am not sure, in Martin Luther's case, how one might go about doing that but I get a gut feeling this graphic novel is not the way to go. I would not share it with unbelievers or new believers and, perhaps even certain older Christians whose proneness to religious rigidness and bias might be solidified even more upon reading "Renegade: Martin Luther."

I am not generally a reader of graphic novels, but I was intrigued by the idea of a biography in this format. I had some background on Martin Luther before requesting this book, but really wanted to learn more about him before delving into some of the more dense books that are available. I loved reading this graphic biography about Martin Luther! The illustrations are beautifully done and complement the text to really enhance the overall experience of reading about this intriguing subject. I would recommend Renegrade: Martin Luther, The Graphic Biography and am proud to have it as a part of my collection.… (more)

Great artwork and faithful to actual history. The graphic images are just that – sometimes quite graphic on the painfulness of life in the 16th century, and oftentimes very close to actual images. As I read it, I wondered if they had applied sketch marks to actual pictures. Nonetheless, 'Renegade' provides a great overview of Luther's life, with its highs and lows. Based on the graphicness of the images and the details of the story itself, I would suggest around 12-13 years old as the youngest suitable audience.… (more)
