Drivel! Absolute drivel!

"I'd only made it this far because of dumb luck, because of my boobs."

An earthquake causes a zombie apocalypse and also opens up an underground world filled with chisel chested, well-endowed grey men. One of these grey men saves our main character, learns English by listening to steamy audiobooks, and spends the entire book groping her as they make their way through a zombie infested land.

The End.

Book 4 in my Zombie-a-thon!

CW: Coarse language used to describe body parts

Collette spent most of her childhood being abused. As a half wolf- half witch hybrid, she never quite fit in anywhere. After being captured and tortured by a warlock, Collette meets Griff, a werewolf who she bonds with. Griff's pack rescues them and Collette finally finds a home with Griff's pack. However, as Collette turns 21, everything is about to change. Thanks to a curse placed upon the werewolves by witches centuries ago, a werewolf will know their true mate by scent when they are both 21. Collette quickly learns that her true mate is not Griff, but a wolf named Hunter from a southern pack. Collette hates to leave her family, but is determined to make things work with Hunter no matter how difficult it may seem. Complications arise when Collette learns that Hunter's pack are witch hunters and does everything she can to hide that part of herself as she gets to know Hunter. Just as Collette is feeling ready to complete the mating ritual with Hunter, she is captured by a witch who has plans to use Collette in order to control the werewolves and bring herself to power.

Hexed Hearts is a new-adult paranormal romance with star crossed lovers, witches and werewolves. I was captured in the very beginning as Collette is held hostage and Griff helps her survive. I do wish we could have seen a little more of Collette and Griff growing up together to cement their bond. They were obviously shared more than surviving being captured together. I was very interested in the curse and why witches would curse the wolves to know their true mate, since this didn't exactly seem like a bad thing to me. We do find out more about the curse later on when the witches enter the scene, but I still feel like I was missing some backstory. Things heated up when Hunter and Collette found one another and Collette had to leave her pack. There was a lot of tension as Collette was taken away by a pack and mate that she didn't know and could potentially be a threat to her as a half-witch. I'm glad Collette and Hunter got to know one another and eventually trust one another, and this is the bulk of the story; however, nothing exciting happens until almost the end as Collette is captured. In Collette's confinement, we finally learn a lot about the witch and werewolf feud and Collette learns to harness her powers together. The ending wrapped up quickly and I was a little confused by Collette's actions, but I'm glad for where she ended up.

This book was recommended by Ruby Dixon’s herself on her Facebook page. And so of course, I had to read it! .
.
Surprisingly, Ruby’s books are mentioned in this book in a very comical way

This was an amazing read. Once I picked the book up, it kept me turning pages all the way to the end. I can wait to see what Mrs. Becca has in store for the next novel. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I received this book – Damaged (Rebirth # 1) from the author Becca Vincenza in exchange for my honest review.

After 5 years being held captive, Audrey is rescued by a team that includes Stone. Instantly he feels a connection to her and feels he must protect her but being tortured for years, Audrey doesn't trust anybody and Stone will anything to make her trust him

This Paranormal romance has shape-shifters, sirens, feys and many more. Reading this novel made me think that this could easily be made into a movie. The characters were so well done that immediately you could imagine them while reading.

The story was so good that I wanted more! The interactions between the characters were believable, the writing was was excellent. The romance in this book well executed, not too much just perfect for the storyline.

Truly impressed, a very enjoyable read.

A great start for this series.

A big 4.5 stars!

I have to say for some of the Freebies I have been reading so far I have not been disappointed, now that I wrote that I will probably get one I regret reading.

Audrey is saved after being kidnapped, yet she still thinks she is still going to be tormented by her savior Stone. I read a mix of genres and I am not all that familiar with the Paranormal besides vampires. This was a nice change of pace from the typical paranormal that have vampires at the center.

I look forward to looking into reading the next book(s) in the series.

Full Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the author, via a Goodreads group, in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: I made a mistake with this book before I even started reading it. I read a bunch of the reviews on its Goodreads page. Normally I’ll only read a few reviews on a book and they’re usually by reviewers that I’ve read before (I’m a creature of habit). There were so many glowing reviews that I started Damaged with higher than average expectations. That was my mistake.

The characters were fine. I thought they were a bit underdeveloped, but that seems to be par for the course when you’re dealing with a series nowadays. I liked Audrey when Stone first finds her and she’s broken. It took awhile for her to start to seem a bit normal, which was believable and I liked. Then the author seemed to put everything into hyper speed. Suddenly you’re supposed to believe in the instant chemistry between Stone and Audrey, while Audrey goes back and forth between the original broken girl and starting to heal. I would’ve preferred the book be a little longer and stretch that out into something more realistic.

The plot itself was original. I liked it, for the most part. I will admit to some eye rolling and heavy sighs on my part. I tend to get irritated when you’re reading a book and the main characters face a large problem, they’re separated, they conquer it and then they’re separated again. It can get a bit tedious, instead of exciting (which is what most authors seem to be aiming for).

My biggest problem with Damaged was the actual writing. There were grammatical and spelling errors too often. There were even sentences with words missing. I have a big problem with this because it yanked me out of the story and forced me to look closer in order to figure out what it was supposed to say. This wouldn’t bother everyone; I’m aware of this. There are people who wouldn’t even notice errors like that as long as they could still get the gist of it. I’m not only of those people.

I really did like Damaged. I thought it was a good book, but it could be better. Would I recommend it though? I’m not sure. I think it would end up being on a case-by-case basis or if you are absolutely obsessed with new adult paranormal books.
