About My Library

I read across many genres. I also go through reading phases. What I read a lot of, say, five years ago might not interest me as much now either topic-wise or genre-wise. For example, my library shows a high percentage of mysteries, but it isn't a genre that I read regularly now. But, a good one now and then does hit the spot. I just can't give up my collection of Agatha Christies that I read at least twenty years ago.

Incidentally, I am Deaf, so I'm interested in how Deaf characters are depicted in fiction (which is not often).

My non-fiction interests focus on history -- especially American History with a focus on the American Revolution era. I also enjoy art history and British Royalty.

I love used bookstores. Therefore, I sometime find that when I review a book here, it may be one of just a few (or even the only one) for that book. I like making that kind of contribution!

Sometimes I'm fortunate enough to get a LibraryThing ER copy, then that way I do get a chance to read something that's "new" instead of used.

My TBR (to-be-read) that I own, if all put together in one stack, would be about twice as tall as I am -- perhaps even more! This TBR is included in my library under the "to read" category (to clarify: all books in my LT library are books I own, unless I forget to delete ones I've given away).

My newest category within my catalog, is "Dad's Library". My dad passed away in September 2018, and since then I have been given several of his books (most of the rest in his library have gone to others). Some of his titles I already have -- therefore didn't take, but regardless those are now also tagged as "Dad's Library". I wish I had thought to catalog his entire library before it was split up. But it's the memories that really counts :-) .

I have been a quilter since 1990. But, for quite a few years, life got in the way of making quilts. That changed in 2021 with a new sewing machine from my mom, also a quilter. Amazing how a new piece of equipment can be a game-changer! Since then, of course, just about every other book added to my library is quilt-related (be it patterns or techniques or quilt history). What can I say? I'm a reader, always!
