About meI'm a 29 year old library director, working for a technical college in north Georgia. It's interesting, challenging, and rewarding work. I couldn't ask for a better job.

If I'm not reading, I'm probably watching Doctor Who, hanging out at the Ted watching Braves baseball, or exploring my awesome town of Atlanta. I also love history, music, art, travel, and University of Georgia football.

About my libraryMy library is mostly general fiction, history, and various essay collections. I have a huge "To Be Read" pile that somehow never seems to dwindle...

I'll read almost anything, so suggestions are always welcomed!

Thank you so much for your picks!! I love them and can't wait to read them! Hope your Santa was as thoughtful as you were :)
Dear Katie:
I just wanted to let you know that I just finished "The Book Thief" and it was truly a remarkable read. I can't remember the last time I have been so profoundly moved by a book. I know it will stay in my head for a long time. Much like Liesel, I am amazed at how powerful words can be. Again, many, many thanks for the gift.
You're welcome! Happy holidays, and happy reading!

Dear greeneyed_ives,
Every year I am determined to wait until the 25th to open my SantaThing gifts and every year I fail miserably. How can I let a box of books sit unopened for two whole weeks?! Obviously, I can't.
I wanted to let you know how happy, excited, and grateful I am for the books you chose for me! "The Book Thief" has been on my wishlist for quite a long time and now I finally have it and it's on my nightstand to start tonight. I've heard so many wonderful things about this book and I can't wait. "The Paris Wife" has been on the verge of being added to my wishlist, but for one reason or another (laziness?) never made it on there. I've always loved reading about writers and this looks fascinating. "The Forgotten Garden" looks like it will be a lovely read. I'm happy to find a new author and a historical mystery with a touch of fantasy sounds wonderful. I was lucky enough to spend a few months in a small town on the coast of Cornwall so that makes this book even more special.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi & welcome to the metro area! I'm afraid you'll be disappointed in the quality of bookstores here, but the Decatur book festival is a blast - hope we might see you there. I've set up a place to talk/plan meetups here.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving suggestions for my Secret Santa. I have indeed enjoyed Raymond Chandler, and the nice thing about getting older is I could probably read them again and not remember any of the plot! :)
I appreciate your comments, thank you. I hope your mom enjoys "Book of Bright Ideas". It is one of my favorites. Have a great holiday!
I am your mom's secret santa. I just noticed your post about Divine Secrets of Ya Ya Sisterhood. That was a mistake. I meant to order her Ya Ya's in Bloom. I am so sorry. I don't know which ones she will get, I never got a message about the price.

To laugh often and much;

to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and to endure the betrayal of false friends;

to appreciate beauty;

to find the best in others;

to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or
a redeemed social condition;

to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

(Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Thank you SO much for the books you chose for me on Santathing! I really an enjoying Blue Like Jazz and I am only a few chapters in.
Also, you have a wonderful library.
Hi there,

I was looking at some of your past reviews and books on your shelf and I thought you would be interested to know that there’s a new book by Vikas Swarup the author of Slumdog Millionaire called Six Suspects out today. In fact Minotaur Books is giving away free signed copies!

They even have a Q&A with Vikas Swarup---
and you can meet the “suspects” in the story. It has gotten great reviews and promises to be a thrilling summer read.

The timing was perfect! I think that it was meant to be.
How funny, I smooched you and then you smooched me! Great minds....
You are very generous. Thanks again for sending it to him. I hope that it won't be too much extra trouble for you to do the customs form.
Thanks for the comment on my 50 Book Challenge thread. Hope you enjoy Gettysburg!
