Hello (or should I say kia ora?)
I came to your profile as you are one of the two other people who have a copy of "The Old-Time Maori" by Makereti.
I am very interested in finding out more about the literature and fiction of NZ, and I have already browsed through your library (especially the NZ fiction tag). I will come back soon to get some useful input as to interesting books to add to my library.
Nice finding you, and happy reading!

Paola :-))
I haven't read any Ihimaera. It was my plan to read a few NZ authors while I was visiting, but I foolishly picked up the Complete Works of Katherine Mansfield (I say foolishly, I thought it was superb, and love short stories, but her works did not have much of a flavour of NZ about them), so I only read 2 Patricia Grace, who has become a favourite of mine - just bought 'Cousins', though won't get round to reading it for a while - to add to Alan Duff's 'Once Were Warriors' (liked it, but found it a bit much by the end).

I am a compulsive literary traveller and am making my way round Africa at the moment, but would like to make a charge at Pacific literature, maybe early next year, so please feel free to pass any recommendations from that part of the world.
All the best,
Andy
Hi,
I came across your profile through the Patricia Grace page, an author I 'discovered' while travelling in NZ. I am part of a group called 'Reading Globally', and part of what we are interested in is hearing about literature from all over the world. Firstly, if you have any NZ authors to recommend we would love you to join. Secondly, someone started a thread for 'Pacific' writers, and it didn't get very far, so I wondered if you knew of anyone from the Pacific Islands, that my be worth a look.
Cheers,
Andy
Pohutukawa is one of my favourite trees. Glad to see someone else likes them.
