(Ongoing effort to catalog all the books I've read, part 2)
--Slim (180-220 pp) mass market pb, probably a Harlequin, from one of their intrigue/suspense lines
--Read in late 2009, and it probably was published within 5-10 years of that date: Computers and cell phones are used (and the computers are hacked!)
--Borrowed from a UK library. I don't remember the spellings as British, but maybe a Mills and Boon?
--The setting is Louisiana, and the main character is a DA whose brother has been convicted/jailed for a crime he didn't commit. She works to clear his name with the help of a PI/cop whose name is Gabe/Gabriel. He may or may not have a French/Creole last name.
--I recall a scene of investigation set in a dilapidated house near a bayou.
--I don't remember any other details except that there is a running joke in the book that the PI works best in the dark (and they keep turning off the lights during sex and joking about it.)
--No cover details have stuck with me
I trolled the Harlequin website to see if anything jumped out at me, but nothing did, and I haven't the patience to continue the slog.

Found it! After I edited my query to include that I'd read the book whilst living in the UK, I realized I hadn't Googled the keywords using Mills and Boon. I tried the combination of 'Mills and Boon Louisiana Gabe' and found it immediately.
The book is A Little Bit Guilty, by Jenna Mills. Minor detail corrections: The male lead is an attorney, not a PI. The woman is an ADA, not the head DA.
ETA: Apparently, Harlequin owns Mills and Boon.
