Hi, I'm hoping someone can tell me the name of a book I read several years ago. It was about families whose profession was as translators for different alien species. The families would have their infant children learn a language and then the child would become a type of UN translator for that language. The main thing about the book was the gender discrimination against women. There was a huge reversal of feminist laws, and women lost all their recent gains and were back to second class citizens. The women of the translating families were inventing a language of women for women. Please help me find this book. (There might be a second in the series, but I'm not sure)
