Block's Kit Tolliver series of short stories (collected in Getting Off) combines his early softcore novels written as Jill Emerson with his later crime fiction work. Be forewarned, Kit's stories are violent and sexual and not Goldlocks and the three bears. Kit is a modern day black widow who meets her men in pickup bars. This particular story is about origins and how Kit became who she became and developed her psycjo-sexual compulsions, including her childhood abuse and her confused feelings. Some may not like what Block developed with this story, but he did he did a fine job of creating this character and her twisted world. ( )
