Good intro to urban sketcher by the man who started it all; good variety of images shared to inspire and show various styles. ( )

A collection of urban sketch work from artists around the world. It's a very inspiring collection with some great tips even for the beginning sketchers, though it is not a how-to. ( )

This is a beautiful book. Motivation to travel and to take time to really look at your environment. Almost all of the drawings are by professional illustrators, architects, and artists. Just looking through this book is inspiring! (a bit intimidating for a novice, but it is not really a basic how-to) ( )

Tour the world, one sketch at a time. I've been familiar with Urban Sketching for a while now, but this was the first book of theirs I'd read. It's mostly a book of inspiration: short artist bios and tips, but mostly just drawing after drawing, each with a description of the tools used and how long it took to complete. This last was especially telling: yes, it's amazing, but the artist also sat there on the sidewalk for two straight hours to complete it. Definitely recommended if you're looking for something to sketch, or just want to see some amazing artwork. ( )

This book is wonderful. If you are at all interested in drawing, sketching, or painting on location then you should grab this book. The illustrations are great and it has good information about the artists themselves as well as hints and techniques to help you become a better artist as well. ( )
