Contains, among other short stories, "The Cure's Boots'. by George Bellairs. This early effort by Bellairs,pre-dates his 'Littlejohn' detective fiction. It is a slight but quite polished story of a french ecclesiastical gentleman of holy mien who is tempted but manages to resist the sin of pride. The story is directly followed by a short but informative note about Bellairs early life and how he began writing.
The remainder of this volume contains twelve other short stories and a couple of poems, none of which need delay the reader long. Also several wood engravings mostly with a flavor of the countryside, which are well-done. ( )
