A superb film set in the London Orthodox Jewish community, about freedom and choice. The film finds a way to reconcile those with religious values, although it is unlikely that everyone would agree with its conclusion. The community and its life is depicted in detail, but there are only three main roles, and the feelings and tensions between the characters are very well conveyed by all the actors. Wonderful photography of the north London suburban settings in winter adds to the closed-in atmosphere. ( )
