Numerous fairy tale characters come together to bake and deliver an enormous birthday cake to an unnamed boy. I found this book very odd. There is not really a plot or characterizations and it lacks excellent prose or illustrations to make up for the lack. The assemblage of fairy tale characters serve no purpose and no reason is given why they would come together in harmony to make this cake for this boy. And, excepting for the inside covers, the characters are not even identified so unless a child was very well-versed in fairy tales, they would not necessarily recognize all the characters. I have a hard time seeing what the appeal of this book would be. ( ) What a delight! Here we find dozens of familiar nursery rhyme characters making, baking, decorating and delivering a sumptuous birthday cake. Preschool children will feast on the illustrations as they search for favourite characters. The Fairy Tale Cake would be a sweet addition to your next classroom or family birthday celebration. no reviews | add a review
"Maybe it wasn't your mom who baked your yummy birthday cake after all. Maybe it was created by a delicious cast of characters from your favorite nursery rhymes!"--Jacket. No library descriptions found. |
